They are coming along fabulous! It's such fun to see what our Nuckols Farm foxes are up to - flying over the world, saving students, teaching math, you name it. Look for some final products on the 4th grade gallery page soon!
4th graders are working on drawing Super Hero Foxes for the yearbook. One drawing will be chosen for the front cover and several for the back cover. Students are using sharpie and watercolor pencils.

An excerpt from Lesson Planet article. Daniel Pink's book has been around for awhile but always a good reminder of the importance of creativity in today's world.
"In his book, A Whole New Mind, author Daniel H. Pink says "The future belongs to...creators and empathizers, pattern recognizers and meaning-makers. These people...will now reap society's richest rewards and share its greatest joys." He is trying to encourage a new way to think about preparing our students for the new globalized economy that they will enter upon graduation. Pink's theory is that because so many companies, in so many countries, can all make the same products for pennies, the only way to stand out is through creativity; creative marketing, creative packaging, creative product design. Is art for everybody? Yes, because if our students are going to be marketable when they get out of school, they are probably going to have to be somewhat creative. Art fosters creativity." 5th graders painted "shades of blue" silhouettes today!
In preparation for our Blue Ribbon celebration next week, 5th graders traced a classmate in a special celebration or school related pose. Then the silhouettes were painted using various shades of BLUE. Wait until you see them in the hallway! Students will keep their own smock (brought from home) in their homeroom. ONE smock is needed. Please see the BTS news for details! Thank you.
My girls and I visited the VMFA today and saw the Dale Chihuly Red Reed installation. I am excited to see the upcoming October exhibition! (See the menu link "Cool Stuff" for more information.) Click here for the NFES Art Studio Back to School News!
