Katelyn and Jessica did an amazing job this morning on the announcements! They shared information about Claude Monet, an Impressionist painter.
The painting that Jessica is holding here is by the artist Claude Monet. The Japanese bridge was part of his garden which he loved very much.
Claude Monet was born in Paris, France in 1840 and became famous for his style of painting called Impressionism. Impressionist artists wanted to capture the impression of the moment - the changing effect of light and color. Artists used short strokes of paint that were mixed directly on the canvas.
There are many other famous artists from France including:
Henri Matisse,
Pierre-Auguste Renoir,
Henri Rousseau,
Paul Cezanne,
Camille Pissarro,
and Edgar Degas
just to mention a few!
Impressionism is one of the most loved styles of painting.
Au revoir!
