During the month of March, we celebrate "Youth Art Month" across the country! "YAM" is an annual observance to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage public support for quality school art programs. YAM provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are not possible in other subjects. Art Education helps develop self-esteem, appreciation of the work of others, self-expression, determination, problem solving, cooperation with others, and critical thinking skills. In the 21st century, these skills are especially vital to the success of our children.
Our students may not grow up to be professional artists, but I firmly believe that they will use the skills they learn in art throughout their life.
